MiDAS Courses Available
MiDAS Standard
MiDAS Standard provides drivers with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to provide safe, legal and comfortable minibus journeys. Training covers key areas including driver licensing, vehicle awareness, reversing and manoeuvring, legal responsibilities, journey safety and procedures for breakdowns, collisions and emergencies.
The course combines online theory with practical training and a driving assessment to the nationally recognised MiDAS Standard.
MiDAS Accessible
MiDAS Accessible provides additional training for drivers responsible for transporting disabled passengers or operating vehicles fitted with specialist accessibility equipment.
MiDAS Standard is a prerequisite for the Accessible course.
Training includes:
- Passenger-centred journeys
- Disability awareness and passenger assistance
- Safe use of passenger lifts and ramps
- Wheelchair Tie-Down and Occupant Restraint Systems (WTORS)
- Practical use of specialist accessible equipment
- Safe boarding and alighting procedures

MiDAS Passenger Assist Training (PATS)
Passenger Assistant Training is designed for anyone with responsibility for the care or supervision of passengers travelling by road, including passengers travelling by minibus, car, MPV or bus. Training helps passenger assistants understand their responsibilities and provides the knowledge required to support safe, legal and comfortable passenger journeys.
Accessible training is also available for passenger assistants responsible for supporting passengers who use wheelchairs or other specialist equipment.
MiDAS Car & MPV
MiDAS Car & MPV training is designed for organisations operating smaller passenger vehicles or voluntary car schemes. The course applies the principles of MiDAS to car and MPV drivers, helping them provide safe and comfortable passenger journeys.
Training can include:
- Driver licensing
- Vehicle walk-round checks
- Reversing and manoeuvring
- Legal responsibilities
- Fitness to drive
- Breakdowns and collisions
- Emergency evacuation procedures
- Passenger awareness and assistance
